Tarek, Fares and family
Tarek and Fares are young brothers from Gaza. "Lately, I lost my right to live in peace, my right in education, and I lost many relatives and friends who have been killed during this war, and most importantly, I lost my city and my home, which became unfit for living or habitation, as everything here became destroyed and uninhabitable. In addition, that we lost our work place and we no more have any way to earn money from."
Tarek managed to complete his Bachelors degree in English Language and Translation amidst the war and together with his cousins Kirk he started Challenge Classes, a program to bring education back to children in Gaza.
"Education is a right, and even in the midst of war, we wanted to give kids not just the ability to learn, but also a piece of their childhood back. Seeing their smiles, their curiosity, and their resilience has reminded us why we keep pushing forward, even on the hardest days."
Tarek's younger brother Fares was severely injured during an airstrike, and his journey to recovery has been long and painful, with seven surgeries so far and one more to go. "Through it all, we've tried to hold on to hope and find ways to rebuild—not just for ourselves, but for others in Gaza too." To heal properly Fares needs access to better nutrition, calcium and vitamin-rich food.
